Chico Pérez (Jaén, 1994) is a pianist, interpreter and composer. He was born in the bosom of a family of musicians, what makes bring back him a great interest and love for music, which will take him to stage at the early age of 6 years.
In the year 2016 got the high degree of music in the specialty of Piano in the CSM of Jaén.
Apart from the studies carried out at the Conservatory, he has received classes from the teacher David Peña "Dorantes", Antonio López, Sergio Albacete, Guillermo González, Alberto de Paz, Israel Sandoval, Pepe Rivero, Joaquín Chacón, German Kucich, Jesús Lavilla, among others. .
At 27 years old and after the success of his first work "Gruserías" , which sold more than 3000 records in a tour of almost 60 concerts , the pianist from Jaén has become a revelation of music in our country , with a album composed of 9 original songs and through which we will take a tour of the places that have marked the life of this artist, recognized as one of the musicians with the most projection on the music scene.
As if that were not enough, it is accompanied by a spectacular cast of collaborations: The voices of Arcángel, Manuel Lombo, Rosario "La Tremendita", Huelva-born Sandra Carrasco and Antonio Serrano's harmonica put the icing on a record that will not leave anyone indifferent. .
A unique style, that of Chico Pérez, whose roots are flamenco but in which at times we will listen to jazz, blues or classical music.
“Continente 27” has been produced together with his brother, the flamenco guitarist Luis Víctor Pérez. Together they have created this musical universe in which we will find instruments such as synthesizers, string quartet, electric guitar or soul and flamenco voices accompanying the main character, the piano.
Emotions and places are transformed into melodies in an album that will take us through the streets of Seville with its "Callejón del Agua" , visit Madrid and its monuments with the "Taranta de Sabatini" or we will travel to Jaén taking a "Walk through the Alameda” . In short, an album full of colours, sounds and of course piano, Chico Pérez's piano.
In 2018 he was awarded, among others, with the Best Artist Award by the RTVE Institute , Young Talent Award , 1st Composer Award and was chosen for the AIEnRuta Flamencos tour.
In 2020 his debut feature, "Gruserías" , was named by the newspaper "El País" as one of the best flamenco albums of the year 2019 and nominated for "Best Flamenco Album" at the Music Awards (MIN Awards).
His recognition has crossed our borders being invited by the prestigious University of Oxford, within the festival "The World's Music at Oxford" . He was also in charge of giving the inaugural concert at the "Madrid Marriot Auditorium" for 2000 people.
Within the concert tours that he has carried out through theaters and festivals throughout the Spanish geography, he has shared a poster with artists of the stature of Diego Amador, Israel Fernández, Alfredo Tejada, Arcángel, Dorantes, Farruquito, Tomatito, Antonio Lizana, Valderrama, José Manuel Soto, Rocio Marquez, etc.
In addition, Chico Pérez has been the main pianist of the musical El Rey León until 2022, has collaborated as Resident Internal Musician in the Música en Vena association and is currently an artist with a scholarship and supported by the Nadine Foundation.
As a composer, he won the award for the best Original Soundtrack for the short film "Al Alba" at the Bailén National Competition (2017). He has composed the soundtrack for the short film "Corazón de Porcelaine" for the Faculty of Communication of the EUSA in Seville (2016). In addition, he made the composition and recording of an album of reflective music for the Mediterranean province of the Marist Brothers.
